Anyway, to christen my new stand mixer Betsy I decided to try again with a recipe I'd been recommended, suffice to say it didn't go well and I swore off brownies forever.
And then I saw this recipe on Pinterest and they just looked sooo yummy! I had to try one last time, so I did.
The mixture was quite runny when I poured it into the tin, well maybe that's normal but it was runnier than I expected for (hopefully successful) brownies!
I did some brownie research and knew it was safe to open the oven door and check their progress, not like a cake. And I knew I needed to test with a wooden toothpick and take them out of the oven when the toothpick came out with some crumbs attached. The time came and I was very nervous!
Waiting for them too cool felt like a lifetime, I was so excited to cut them!
YAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!! They worked! For the first time ever! Literally couldn't believe it. Though I hadn't tried one yet...
We all had a piece each and they were bloody delicious, if I may say so myself! Dexter devoured his piece in seconds! It's now Tuesday and I made them on Sunday, there are 2 pieces left but only because I'm trying to sort out my diet, otherwise I'd have eaten the whole plate straight away!
They're a cakey kind of brownie, with a slight gooeyness, but I wouldn't say they're fudgy. I will definitely be making another batch ASAP though because they were a hit!
